Patterns of Place Opening Reception

The Party: Patricia Boinest Potter’s three-dimensional art installations transformed the Halsey Art Institute into a recreation of Potter’s home in the forests of Northeast Alabama. Her art is inspired by patterns of movement in the everyday world that are reflected at both the micro and macro level, from the smallest particles to the largest stars and cosmos.

Highlights: Potter drew from her architecture background to create the six isomorphic map tables and 100 1:1 map insets in this enigmatic and fascinating exhibit. Guests enjoyed beer, wine, and champagne as well as light hors d'oeuvres provided by Whole Foods and Icebox. Potter's family traveled from Alabama to join the party, and art enthusiasts of all ages appreciated the intrigue of the installation.

Overheard: “Pat lives in a tree house in the wilds of wooded Alabama.”
